Book Launch Party November 21!

Monday, November 21, 2011
6 to 9 p.m.
The Civil Life Brewing Company, 3714 Holt, Ave., St. Louis, MO 63116

So, as you may know (I mean, you *have* been paying attention, haven’t you?), my first novel, DETOURS, is now available from Bold Strokes Books. It’s been eight years since I concocted the initial crackpot idea (while on a walk at the Garden with Mike and our friends Jim and Laura) for a farce that eventually became what my friend Elizabeth called “a gay bildungsroman” (and just so you know, I spelled that without having to look it up—so there).

Anyway, this is a good reason to have a party! Another good reason to party? Jake Hafner’s microbrewery in Tower Grove South, a mere stone’s throw away from my old house. Yes, if we still lived there, I could be within staggering distance of some of the best beer the Gateway City has to offer. My liver is grateful that we moved, but the rest of me is not so sure.

So! Come join me for a celebratory occasion, and here’s the kicker: the first round’s on me! Yes, I’m buying the first pint for the first 50 people who show up. And if, like me, you can’t imagine that 50 people will actually turn out for this, then I might just buy you a second pint. (No, I am not trying to get you drunk.)

If you’ve got a copy of the book (WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU HAVEN’T ORDERED A COPY OF THE BOOK?) I will of course be more than happy to sign it for you. Seriously, there might be tears.

Need a copy? You can always pre-order it from Left Bank Books—but if you wait until the last minute (don’t feel guilty, I do the same thing), Left Bank will have one of their fabulous staff members on hand to sell you a shiny new copy! I HIGHLY recommend getting yours from Left Bank. Support your local independent!

I hope you can make it!

  1. Hmm, two free pints means I might not be in appropriate condition for the drive home to Indy. What are the best public places in St. Louis in which to pass out?
